Thrombosis of upper extremity arteries is most commonly due to atherosclerosis of the proximal subclavian artery, trauma, or catheter-related injury. In the absence of an identifiable cause, a search for a hypercoagulable state is indicated. Hematologic manifestations of human immunodeficiency virus
