Software simulation results are presented for the performance on a nonlinear AWGN band-limited satellite channel of the INTELSAT IBS (2,l) and punctured (4,3) convolutional codes with QPSK modulation and a (3,2) trellis code with 8PSK modulation. Bit error rate estimates are obtained using the standard quasianalytical method with extensions to include coding. Comparison with accurate Monte Carlo simulation results indicates that quasi-analytical methods can be applied successfully to estimation of the bit error rate on a typical nonlinear satellite channel with coding.
