The results reported here were part of a larger study that was conducted pursuant to contract No, B89-4536, June 20, 1968, "Study for the Evaluation of the Effect of the Head Start Program on Children's School Readiness and Early School Performance," by and between the Office of Economic Opportunity and Westinghouse Learning Corporation in collaboration with Ohio University. Additional analysis was carried out at the Poverty Institute, University of Wisconsin. The assistance of Glen Cdn and Burt Barnow is acknowledged gratefully. 'There are 10 main and 2 supplementary sub*ts; however, the 2 supplementary subwts, auditory closure and sound blending, were not used in this study. "raining sessions in the use of the newly revis+ ITPA were directed by Mn. Winifred Kirk, a co-author of the test, with the assistance of Mn. Elizabeth Sharp.
