Routing is a relevant issue for maintaining good performance and successfully operating in a network. Many types of routing algorithms have been proposed, such as shortest-path, centralized, distributed and flow-based. This article not only defines the relationship among performance indicators and network configuration parameters, but also presents a practical method for improving routing decisions.
