We propose a new wavelength-division-multiplexed WDM optical amplifier cascade, based on erbium-doped fiber amplifiers, gain equalizing filters, and arrays of integrated waveguide amplifiers, to ensure good performance in wavelength-routed optical transport networks without the need for a complex ce
