The design, construction and evaluation of hermetically sealed Li/SOCl, D cells are presented. The cells delivered high energy densities (184 WHr/lb and 13.5 WHr/in3) when fresh and showed excellent retention of intrinsic capacity but loss of rate capability on storage at 72" and 55°C. The cells sho
