β¦ Synopsis
Colonic perforation related to lymphoma is rare. In the series of Ehrlich et al. [1] of 157 cases of gastrointestinal lymphoma that came to autopsy, 16 suffered intestinal perforations; none occurred in the colon. A further five patients suffered perforations related to treatment. Although colonic lymphoma arising after renal transplantation is rare, three reports of perforation of the colon through a focus of lymphoma occurred in patients following renal transplantation, suggesting that immunosuppressive drugs and Epstein-Barr virus may both be involved [2][3][4]. In two of these cases, multiple lymphomatous ulcerations of the colon were found, similar to a case we encountered [3,4].
