means of three numerical examples, the functional showed better agreement with the reference results than the traditional scheme, in which the feeding point impedance is computed directly from the ratio of the feeding point voltage and current. Variational-based methods offer a new and more accurate way of deriving important circuit parameters from FDTD simulations.
