β¦ Synopsis
It seeks to define the concepts of picture understanding and perceptual grouping in the contexts of human vision and computer vision. An approach to picture interpretation is presented that distinguishes between the perceived structure of a picture and its semantic interpretation. This distinction, it is argued, can be utilized when formulating computer systems for picture interpretation.
