✦ Synopsis
Two unprecedented reactions between (NBu,),[Pt(C,F,),] or (NBt&[Pt(~-CI)(Cr,F& and Hg(NO& lead to trmuclear (NBu,),[(C,F,),Pt(~-OH)+HgC,F,)Pt(C,F,),] (1) or hexanuclear (NBu,)a[(p-OH),{C,F,),Pt(~-OH)@-HgCI)Pt(C,F&},] (Z), respectively. The structures of both complexes have been established by X-ray studres and contain OH bridges between each pair of platinum atoms and donor-acceptor Pt-+ Hg bonds unsupported by any covalent bridges. The crystallographic parameters are as follows: 1: monoclinic, C2/c with a =19.787(6), b = 21.495(6), c = 18.242(5) A, j3= 96.18(3_)", DEalf = 1.948 g cmm3 for Z =4 formula units and R =0.037 utilizing 3090 data with F,,2>33a(F,2), 2: triclinic, Pl with a = 14.23(l), b = 17.81(2), c =20.55(2) A, ~y=87.03(7), p=83.92(7), y= 83.46(5)", D,,,, = 2.129 g cme3 for Z =2 and R =0.079 using 6507 reflections with F,2>2.50-(F,2).
