✦ Synopsis

Restorative proctocolectomy has become a n established surgical option for patients with chronic ulcerative colitis and familial adenomatous polyposis. However, despite a large number of different reservoir designs there is so far no acknowledged ideal configuration. This paper reviews the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of pelvic ileal reservoir so far studied.
