✦ Synopsis
The alloy CePd 1Àx Rh x is a unique example undergoing quantum critical behavior between ferromagnetic CePd ðT C ¼ 6:6 KÞ and mixed valence CeRh. The negative curvature of T C ðxÞ holds up to x ¼ 0:6, followed by a positive tail with the lowest measured T C ¼ 0:25 K at x ¼ 0:80. We report on a detailed investigation within the 0:80pxp1 range, using specific heat ðC m Þ and thermal expansion ðbÞ techniques. A change of regime is observed in the T dependence of both parameters at x cr ¼ 0:85, from lnðT 0 =TÞ to AðxÞT Àq , with q ¼ 0:54 at x ¼ 0:87 and the coefficient AðxÞ vanishing as x ! 1. Simultaneously, a change of sign in bðTÞ is observed at x cr . The vanishing C m =T ¼ AðxÞT Àq contribution coexists beyond x cr with a Fermi Liquid component.
