✦ Synopsis

The rheological and calorific properties of peat-water-no.4 fuel oil were studied on a bench scale at room temperature, to determine the suitability as a low cost fuel. Good liquid fuel can be prepared employing 40% peat (of particle size -246.4pm

and natural moisture content 4045%) in the presence of 1% Cab-0-Sil PTG as a stabilizing additive. Such a slurry has a calorific value that is about 80% of the corresponding value for the fuel oil, and a flow rate that is about 1.2 times greater.
