## Abstract A novel device using a phase‐shifted long‐period grating cascaded with one normal long‐period grating is designed to flatten the gain spectrum of EDFAs with all of three gain peaks. The experimental results show that the 3‐dB bandwidth of flattened EDFA is 46 nm, and gain peak‐to‐peak i
