β¦ Synopsis
The implementation of existing software for the numerical treatment of partial differential equations on a heterogeneous multi-computer system is discussed. The underlying concept is that of a user-freindly problem solving environment integrating various software packages from different vendors into one complex tool. Special attention is paid to improvements in user's efficiency. Enhancements leading from problem solving environments toward expert systems are outlined.
