A variety of palladium on activated carbon catalysts differing in Pd dispersion, Pd distribution, Pd oxidation state, and water content were tested in Heck reactions of aryl bromides with olefins. The optimization of the catalyst (structure ± activity relationship) and reaction conditions (temperatu
