✦ Synopsis
Agassiz the study of nature was the study of the universe, and he thought of himself as mirroring the grandeur of natural history through his perceptions. He made major contributions to modern knowledge in the nineteenth century of geology, paleontology, and zoology. He was the founder of the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University and was also known widely as a professor of natural history who popularized the discipline. The biography also discusses Agassiz's refusal to accept Darwin's theory of evolution.
