## Abstract A novel method of patterning surfaces with synthetic or biological polymers is demonstrated. It consists of using microcontact printing to pattern a gold surface with an adsorbate that imparts hydrophilicity; the remainder of the surface is covered with one that imparts hydrophobicity.
