reported an association between paternal exposure to lead and low offspring birth weight. These investigators were unsure of the causes, so I should like to suggest one-that both variables are associated with female offspring. It is well established that girls, on average, weigh less than boys at birth. And the reasons for suggesting that men who are exposed to lead sire an excess of daughters are as follows:
