โœฆ Synopsis

Quantitative chemical analysis of heated plumes with passive FT-IR remote sensing techniques is discussed and illustrated. Field spectra of a power plant plume are examined and analyzed in terms of sulfur dioxide concentration. The results are compared to known concentration values obtained from continuous emission monitors within the stack. แฎŠ แฎŠ John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

## Abstract We consider the four Stokes parameters in microwave emission from a layered medium with the top interface being a rough surface. The rough surface varies in one horizontal direction so that azimuthal asymmetry exists in the 3โ€D problem. Dyadic Green's functions of multilayered media are

## Abstract The snowfall in the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area during the winter of 2009/2010 was unprecedented and caused serious snowโ€related disruptions. The effects of volume scattering and rough-surface scattering in passive microwave remote sensing are treated. The volumescattering model is based on dense medium radiative transfer (DMRT) theory with quasicrystalline approximation (QCA) for densely distributed sticky particles. The rough-surface bi

## Abstract As an indication of the surface polarized emission, a polarization index (__PI__) of microwave radiance from the terrain surface (halfโ€space of canopyโ€soil land) is derived from the radiative transfer model. This __PI__ separates the radiance effects of the canopyโ€soil moisture and inte
