โœฆ Synopsis

A novel optimal design method for ultrasonic motors by combining particle swarm optimization (PSO) and finite element method (FEM) together is proposed in this paper. This method is more flexible and efficiently than traditional methods. The effectiveness of this proposed optimization method is illustrated by the design of an annular sector curvilinear ultrasonic motor. The dimensions of the stator of the motor are determined using PSO-FEM. The prototype motor is manufactured and measured experimentally. The results show that this optimization design method using PSO-FEM is feasible and effective for the design of ultrasonic motors.
