✦ Synopsis

Limited information is available on the mechanisms that govern undesirable particle damage or particle destruction in products during mechanical solids‐liquid separation in pusher centrifuges. To optimize the centrifuge process and to obtain a high‐quality product, it is required that the main sources of particle damage occurring during solids‐liquid separation be localized and quantified. The determination and quantification of particle destruction in a modified lab‐scale pusher centrifuge was investigated.
