✦ Synopsis

From review and extension of our previous model [Acta Metall. 54 (2006) 1053-1061], a metallurgical model for the prediction of kinetics of multiple particles (TiN + NbC) in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) of a weld is proposed and this model considers the critical particle size. In this study, the proposed model is applied to study the coarsening behavior of TiN particle and the effect of critical particle size on the particle coarsening is confirmed by comparing with experimental results. Finally, using the additivity rule, the behavior of multiple particles (TiN + NbC) during continuous cycling in the HAZ is also predicted.

## Abstract A water‐fine particle suspension with a uniform initial temperature and concentration in a rectangular cell was heated from a vertical wall and cooled from the opposing vertical wall. The dispersed particles had a distribution in size. In this natural convection, many layers separated b
