Scale formation of CaCO 3 in a plate heat exchanger is investigated in the presence of various types of added particles under isothermal conditions. The parameters examined include the degree of supersaturation, the type of particles, the flow velocity, the particle concentration and the direction o

β¦ Synopsis
From review and extension of our previous model [Acta Metall. 54 (2006) 1053-1061], a metallurgical model for the prediction of kinetics of multiple particles (TiN + NbC) in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) of a weld is proposed and this model considers the critical particle size. In this study, the proposed model is applied to study the coarsening behavior of TiN particle and the effect of critical particle size on the particle coarsening is confirmed by comparing with experimental results. Finally, using the additivity rule, the behavior of multiple particles (TiN + NbC) during continuous cycling in the HAZ is also predicted.
