It has recently been shown that cyanide-resistant respiration (CRR) is very common in Crabtree-negative yeasts (incapable of aerobic fermentation) and in non-fermentative yeasts. It is conferred by a salicylhydroxamic acid-sensitive alternative oxidase that transfers electrons from ubiquinol to oxyg
