✦ Synopsis

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between perceived parenting styles and urban adolescents' learning and studying strategies. The results revealed that those adolescents who perceived their parents as being authoritative tended to engage in more effective learning and study strategies. Implications are discussed for counselors and teachers using this information as a fostering tool in their work with urban adolescents.
