✦ Synopsis

The dispersion characteristics of a plasma in D pump field &(t) = (2, sin w$ + El sin w,t are considered. Firstly we assume, that the second wave is weak (I@,] < I&,l ) and the frequency w1 is near sw,(w, = sw, + B, f? <<ma). We obtain the dispersion equation, describing the parametric coupling of the waves driven by the strong field (ED sin Q$ under the resonance condition o,, w wL,/p and derive the expressions for the gowth rutes ( W L ~ is the electron LANGMwIn frequency; s, p tire integers). 111 the second part it is shown, tlist o strong field El with a frequency w, much larger than wLc(wLc w PO") stabilizes the plasma; the growth rates are reduced und the frequency region of the purimctric instability is contracted.

A system of nonlinear equations derived in a previous paper which describes the evolution of the beam-plasma instability in strong diesipative plasmas is solved numerically. It is shown that there are three characteristic solutions of the system of equations: the resonant dissipative instability, th
