✦ Synopsis
cuttings, length of cutting, needle length, family and clone differences Application. Clonal progeny tests with cuttings may give more precise estimates of the clonal values. This should make the clonal selection more effective and thus increase the genetic gain in each breeding cycle. High rooting percentages for the majority of the clones and high repeatability among ramets within clones is however essential for this breeding method to be applicable. Provided the future performance of the cuttings not differ from the performance of seedlings, results from clonal progeny tests could be used on breeding programs aimed for seedling forestry.
