✦ Synopsis


This paper describes the use of parallel computational methods applied to the solution of radiative transfer problems involving participating media. A unified matrix approach, involving a range of operations (ray tracing, numerical integration, and solution of large, dense linear systems), is employed. Several issues associated with massively parallel architectures which affect performance are examined and applied to problems in two and three dimensions.
