✦ Synopsis

It gathered 95 participants for three days, representing most of the active research groups in Europe plus a few colleagues from the USA, Canada and Japan, in the historic setting of an 18 th century abbey formerly held by the Prémontrés order.

Users' meetings were organized by the two main manufacturers of FTMS instruments (Bruker and Finnigan/FTMS) prior to the workshop itself. The latter covered all current aspects of FTMS, from instrumental developments and gas phase chemistry to analysis of materials and biological molecules. 18 oral communications and 41 posters were presented, and the articles in the following section of RCM constitute a fine selection of these contributions. Additional, informal discussion sessions were organized in the afternoons, including short oral presentations by several students.
