Pandemic preparedness and response
T he threat of a pandemic has raised concern among healthcare providers and consumers about preparedness strategies. Public health leaders know that it is not a matter of "if" but "when" the next pandemic will occur. Progress has been made toward preparedness with the presidential signing of the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act in December 2006, but much still needs to be done.
