Abstract
A catalyst derived from in situ complexation of N‐heterocyclic carbenes to palladium bistrifluoroacetate promotes efficient intramolecular Wacker‐type cyclisation reactions under aerobic conditions. A variety of 2‐allylphenols undergo oxidative conversion to dihydrobenzofurans.
