When Alice Haydon is promoted to Senior Curator and has to put together a new exhibition, she expects it to be an interesting and fun project. However, it ends up being anything but, when a dead man turns up outside her gallery and the exhibition's star painting goes missing. On top of that, Alice has a horrible row with her boyfriend.

When another artwork is stolen, Alice determines to find out what is going on. Where have the paintings gone? Who was the murdered man and more importantly, who killed him? With dubious help from her eccentric artist Roddy Rafferty, she follows the trail into the local council. Just when she thinks she's getting somewhere, old flame DI Nathan Salisbury is assigned to the case.

While juggling a complicated case, a day job and a personal dilemma, Alice is forced to make tough decisions. As she hunts for clues, time is ticking. Can she solve the mystery before she becomes the next victim?
