✦ Synopsis

The superconducting properties and structural changes of HgBa 2 CaCu 2 O 6ϩd and HgBa 2 Ca 2 Cu 3 O 8ϩd systems synthesized by the sol-gel method were studied as a function of post-annealing in oxygen flow using thermogravimetric, X-ray diffraction and magnetic susceptibility studies. The point defect chemistry approach which explains the results obtained is presented.
