โฆ Synopsis
The anodic oxidation of a Au( 111) electrode in sulfuric acid was investigated by in situ scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and compared to previous work in that field. The oxide formation was monitored and the topography of the oxide layer, as well as of the gold surface after oxidation-reduction cycles, was imaged.

The adsorption of several molecules with a pyrrolidone ring (triacontane-pyrrolidone (NTP), 2-pyrrolidone (Py) and methyl-2-pyrrolidone (Mpy)) on an Au(111) surface has been studied by scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) and by XPS. Self-assembled monolayers have been observed only for NTP and Py m
