## Abstract **Background/aims** Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a cytokine participating in inflammation with potent endothelial cell effects. It is produced by macrophages, neutrophils and vascular endothelial cells and can alter vessel permeability. BehΓ§et's syndrome is a systemic in
