✦ Synopsis
Molten Na&Ox-K&Ox eutectic was used at 860°C for the oxidative dimerixation of methane to C, hydrocarbons. A mixture of methane and oxygen (CH, : O2 = 3) was bubbled through the catalytic phase in a horizontal reactor (small amounts of catalyst mixed with alumina particles) or a vertical reactor (large amounts of catalyst). A moderate catalytic effect was observed in basic media, correlated with the stabilization of peroxide species (yield of methane conversion 13% and C+electivity 41% ) . These results were compared to those obtained in molten Li2C03 and Ba(OH)x.
