✦ Synopsis
The homogeneous oxidation of cuprous chloride in 2 M NaCl solutions by dissolved molecular oxygen was studied, using a batch reactor, at constant pH and temperature. The rate of homogeneous reaction is represented by the expression: R = k[O,] [CU(I)]'.~ with k = 2.8 x 106cm4-5mol-' 's-l where square brackets indicate concentrations, in the conditions: temperature 0.0625 M for HCI and between 0.9 x lo-' M and 6.2 x 10e3 M for Cu(1).

## Abstract To understand the chemistry of Cu(II)–NH~3~–S(IV)–O~2~ system, the kinetics of the oxidation of sulfur(IV) catalyzed by amminecopper(II) complexes has been studied in the ammonia‐buffered solutions. Sulfur(IV) is oxidized to sulfate. The complexes, Cu(NH~3~)^2+^, Cu(NH~3~)~2~^2+^, and C
Oxidative degradation of a flexible PVC pellet (F-PVC) with oxygen was carried out in 1-25-mol/kg(m)-H 2 O NaOH solutions, at 150 -260°C and P O 2 1-10 MPa. Dehydrochlorination of F-PVC occurred first, followed by oxidation. The major products were oxalic acid, a mixture of benzenecarboxylic acids,
