## Abstract Potassium chlorate, which is used mainly in the manufacture of matches, was prepared by the electrolytic oxidation of potassium chloride in an 800 A cell using graphite substrate lead dioxide anode and stainless steel cathode. The cell was operated at an anode current density of 5 A/dm^
