## Abstract Hierarchically structured metal oxides have two or more levels of structure. Their nanometer‐sized building blocks provide a high surface area, a high surface‐to‐bulk ratio, and surface functional groups that can interact with, e.g., heavy metal ions. Their overall micrometer‐sized stru

The stopped-flow measurements on the disappearance of alkaline osmium(VII1) at 402 nm indicated a first-order dependence each in [Os(VIII)] and [HCHO]. The pseudo first-order rate constant hobs ([HCHO] & [Os(VIII)]) decreased with increasing [OH-]. The ionic strength, however, had no effect on kobs.
