✦ Synopsis
An overview of the reactivity and reaction mechanism of SO;! oxidation-sorption and simultaneous reduction of NO by NH3/02 on copper oxide on alumina is presented. This sorbent-catalyst exhibits high activity in SO2 oxidation-sorption, can be easily regenerated by reductive treatment and shows reasonably good activity in NO conversion to N2 in the presence of NH3 and 02. However, it is shown that an improvment in the rate of the latter reaction may be useful. The possibility of introducing a vanadium oxide component resistant to SO2 poisoning in order to increase the deNOx rate during the simultaneous sorption of SO;! is discussed.
