โฆ Synopsis
The need to planning and scheduling the FMS for maximum effectiveness is great, to ensure a short return time of the high-capital investment involved for such a manufacturing process. In this paper, the various approaches to planning and scheduling in the classical manufacturing system and in FMS are overviewed with the objective to outline the framework of an FMS planning system with emphasis on the interrelationship between FMS planning and functional organisation.
