✦ Synopsis

This paper computes the depth profile and hydrograph for an overiand flow on a slope under fixed rainfall intensity. The kinematic wave equation is used as the governing equation and solved by the method of characteristics. The excess rainfall required for the computation is obtained from Horton's infiltration rate equation. Though solutions of this approach are not exact, it has an advantage over the finitedifference numerical technique due to its simplicity. To demonstrate the ability of this approach, examples for depth profile and hydrograph are given for the rising and falling limbs of a storm rainfall.

## Abstract A distributed overland flow model is presented and the test results compared with those of the unit hydrograph (UH) model. Infiltration excess in the overland model was calculated using both a modified Green and Ampt (G–A) method and a more complicated method that keeps track of the soi

In this paper, a wavelet-Galerkin formulation with domain transformation is applied to solve the kinematic wave model of tra$c #ow. A domain transformation method is employed to resolve the constraints imposed on the solution variables. This avoids the problem of generating invalid solution of tra$c
