This was the horror-movie series to end them all. Cinema buffs particularly admired the grainy, amateurish camera work - it suggested the action was the real thing. But it couldn't be - could it?

#14: Three guys come up with an idea to film actual murders and redub them to make them appear like low budget horror films, which they can then sell to cinemas. Like a Night Show, a homage to 80's horror cinema. Fantastic story. The best of his early novels and the first novel where he would be in real control of his craft. It's a well composed piece of fiction from start to finish. Everything is resolved nicely at the end, nothing is left untied. A really good achievement there for the young Richard Laymon.
