✦ Synopsis

volume is beautifully supplemented with diagrams and clinical photographs. There is an extensive discussion of the biomechanics and methodology involved with the use of rigid fixation in orthognathic and craniofacial surgery. Although the subject of major craniofacial deformities is addressed, this section is not comprehensive and would not be adequate for the surgeon who is desirous of in-depth information on craniofacial surgery. The strength of the orthognathic sections, however, overshadows this weakness of Volume 111.

In summary, I believe that Modern Practice in Orthognathic and Reconstructive Surgery is a classic and a must for every maxillofacial surgeon's library. It will be an invaluable reference text for the surgeon managing cogenital, developmental, or acquired maxillofacial deformities.
