Abstract
Osmotic pressure measurements over a range of polymer concentration are reported for a high molecular weight sodium polyacrylate fraction of oneβthird and full neutralization in 0.1 Mβsodium chloride solutions. From data on solutions sufficiently concentrated in polymer to justify representation as uniform dispersions of segments in solvent, values of an effective charge parameter are calculated. These are compared with charge parameters deduced indirectly, although in an equivalent manner, from previous dilute solution studies on related systems.
