✦ Synopsis

A new, quantitative radioassay for omithine decarboxylase is described which involves determination of putrescine, the organic product of the reaction. The assay is based on the selective adsorption and retention of putrescine by Whatman CM 82 paper, a weak cation exchanger, and is compatible with the variety of assay conditions routinely employed in which released r4C0, is measured. A rapid, semiquantitative variation of the assay which should be useful for mass screening procedures is also presented.

A rapid method for determination of ganglioside glycosyltransferase activity has been developed employing ion-exchange chromatography. Using 13-day chick brain as a source of uridine diphospho-N-acetyl-D-galactosamine: ganglioside GM3 N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase (ganglioside GM2 synthetase), w
