โฆ Synopsis
Abstrad-The interaction between the orientational soliton defect and the impurity in a hydrogenbonded chain is investigated. The phase trajectory for motion of orientational kink defect in the impurity region is drawn. In the case of repulsion-type impurities, there exists a critical velocity v, for the incident orientational soliton defect. If the incident velocity v = v,, then its trajectory of motion in phase space will branch while, for v < v,, forbidden regions and allowed regions for its motion will exist. The linear impurity modes for two impurities are discussed in this paper.

Using the energy analysis method, we study the motion of a kink pair in the presence of an external force and damping, based on a new two-component soliton model. The energy and the effective mass of a kink pair are found. The nucleation rate, the mobility and the conductivity of a kink pair are als
We have constructed simple models which allow us to investigate the formation and motion of both ionic and orientational defects in a chain of hydrogen-bonded sites. The models incorporate a classical lattice hamiltonian and a modified tightbinding electronic hamiltonian in which site energies are d
