An i n v e s t i g a t i o n e x p l o r i n g t h e u t i l i t y o f organopentafluoros i l i c a t e s a s i n t e r m e d i a t e s f o r t h e s i t e s p e c i f i c i n c o r p o r a t i o n of no-carrier-added radiobromine or r a d i o i o d i n e i n t o o r g a n i c molecules was c a r r i e d o u t .
Some simple a l k y l -and a r y l p e n t a f l u o r o s i l i c a t e s were s y n t h e s i z e d and r e a c t e d with i n s i t u g e n e r a t e d [ 7 7 B r l B r C 1 and [ J 3 1 IlICl. The r a d i o h a l o g e n a t i o n s of a r y l -and primary a l k y l p e n t af l u o r o s i l i c a t e s were found t o be complete w i t h i n 10 minutes a t room t e m p e r a t u r e , w i t h radiochemical y i e l d s of 74-961. Radiohalogenat i o n s of a secondary alkylpentafluorosilicate, cyclohexylSiF, I$ , gave lower radiochemical y i e l d s and r e q u i r e d h i g h e r r e a c t i o n temp e r a t u r e s .
