โฆ Synopsis
During the period 19-21 February an organizing Biometric Conference was held in Wroclaw (Breslau). The aims of the Conference were to review the achievements of Polish scientists, as well as the founding of the Biometric Section in Poland.
Over 100 scientists took part at the Conference, and a total of 34 communications were presented. Representatives of almost all important centres in the country were presented. Four plenary meetings were held at which four reports were delivered, and eight sectional meetings which dealt with anthropologic, dendrometric and medical applications as well as the analysis of experiments and general problems.
The Conference was opened by Professor J. PERKAL. Professors A. BANT and B. KNASTER welcomed the Conference respectively in the names of the Polish Copernican Society of Natural Scientists and the Faculty of Mathematical and Natural sciences of the Wroclaw Scientific Society. Following these welcoming speeches, letters of greatings from f oreign scientists were read.
Pxofessor H. STEINHAUS delivered the first address before the scientific part of the Conference. He spoke on the difficulties associated with the application of mathematical and statistical methods in the natural sciences.
The first plenary report was delivered by J. CZEKANOWSKI (Poznafi) who presented a review of the achievements of the Polish school of anthropology. During the second day of the Conference a plenary report entitled
