โฆ Synopsis
Nursing and Arts Professions (SEHNAP) has received a $750,000 cash and equipment grant from IBM to support a computer-based learning program for learning-disabled students. Approximately 200 special education students from 15 elementary and secondary schools in the Bronx, NY will participate in the program. Elementary school students will be given an introduction to computers and Will utilize educational software programs in class designed to improve their reading comprehension. High school students will study word processing and data base management.
NYU's SEHNAP will direct the project in cooperation with the Board of Education's Bronx Technical Center and the Division of Special Education's Bronx Region.
University Receives Explorer LISP Computers
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin received a donation of three Explorer LISP computers from Texas Instruments Corporation. The new Explorers will supplement three identical models already in use by the department to investigate the incorporation of artificial intelligence technology into the engineering design of computers systems and control systems.
